Frugal Travel Tips for Cruises

Cruises are one of my favorite ways to see the world. I like falling asleep and waking up in one country to another, with no compression and decompression. Cruise ships run the gamut of prices from expensive to super value. For frugal travelers, here are some tips to reduce spending.

All routes as

When most people think of cruises, they think in the Caribbean, the Mediterranean and possibly in Alaska. However, the name of a port and it's probably aSailing Cruise in it. And some of these routes can be not only financial, but a pleasant surprise. As soon as we booked a 12-day cruise from London to St. Petersburg Baltic and back for less than the airfare from New York to London. It remains one of our most popular cruises.

Bring Your Own Soft Drinks

The food is usually the price for a cruise inclusive (except for meals at top restaurants). However, drinks except water, coffee, tea, and ifFortunately iced tea come with additional costs. So, what we do is to buy alcoholic beverages in the ports (maximum ? for alcoholic beverages is often a fee capping) and then pour into glasses.

Make your own tour

We were more than a dozen cruises throughout the world and have only an organized tour of the ship (our first cruise) done. They are expensive, go on the pace of the slowest traveler and restrictive. For a traveler well organized, makes its own system to be preferred.

One trick we use is visited on the lid and ship monuments belong to our "tour" look.

Note. Tour directors often tell horror stories about passengers not to go back to the ship on time The solution? Allow a little more time and make remote locations first.

Big Breakfast, Dinner Later

For the frugal traveler, maximizing your time in port is a must. This means that ifable to choose the late seating for dinner. In addition, we tend not to big meals (if any) to eat. Instead, eat a hearty breakfast on board the ship (where the breakfast is free), snack bits and bites of local foods, while on the ground and then the next day with a dinner.

Cruise is one of the favorites for this frugal traveler to see the world. And with these tips is a luxury that can be included in the budget, a traveler.
