I stored a comma delimited file to a LinkedList that had a name, gender (Lisa, F or Robert, M) and it outputs on a Default List Model asLisa F
Robert M
Okay, so there is 50 of these names and genders there, 25 female and 25 male. I am able to remove and sort them.
Now, I want to output groups of 4 (2 males and 2 females) on JTextArea. I know I need to shuffle and in a for loop continue to remove from the list as it makes teams, I just cannot get that to output nor do I know how to incorporate gender.
Would subList() be a solution? I really want to understand how this should work. Thanks
Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

Splitting them into 2 lists, male and female, and then drawing 2 randomly from each occurs to me as being the simplest approach. (Drawing names randomly is equivalent to shuffling and then drawing in order.) To avoid drawing duplicates, after drawing a name, move it to the end of the list and reduce the number remaining by 1. This approach is similar to dealing from a deck of cards.

Thanks that explanation makes sense. I am going to try and use this method. If anything I will post more questions.
