Dwayne Bravo feels honoured to have Gayle in his team ? Cricket News
Newly appointed One Day International (ODI) captain of West Indies, Dwayne Bravo, is delighted to have a player of the quality of Chris Gayle in his ranks and feels that the great left-handed batsman still has a lot of appetite for playing international cricket.
Bravo has recently replaced Darren Sammy as the captain of the 50-overs format; however, the latter will continue to lead the Caribbean men in the other two versions of the sport.
West Indies have a number of world-class players in their ranks like Gayle, Marlon Samuels, Kieron Pollard, Darren Bravo, Sunil Narine and some others. This is the reason why sporting analysts are giving a very good chance to the West Indies for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2013, which is going to begin from June 6 at Cardiff.
The all-rounder thinks that Gayle is among the most destructive batsmen of the modern-era, having the potential to change the course of a match single-handedly. Bravo revealed that the left-handed opener is a cooperative player, who never hesitates to give his opinion.
The West Indies captain said, ?He is the most dangerous player, and I think he will be until he decides to finish the game. But he's a guy that's easy to captain. Chris doesn't say much. He shares his knowledge. To have someone like him in the team is always an asset. To me as captain, I can't explain how I feel.?
Bravo feels honoured to have a player of the class of Gayle in his side and said that Gayle is still hungry to perform well for the Caribbean.
?I'm very happy to have him available and fit and playing. He has done a lot of great things for cricket over the years, and I know he still has a lot of desire, passion to represent the West Indies team,? he added.
The 33-year-old cricketer from Jamaica has so far represented West Indies in 97 Tests, 242 ODIs and 32 T20 Internationals, having scored more than 16 thousand runs at the highest stage of the game, with the help of 36 centuries and 89 fifties.
