I purchased my first handgun at a local gun show two weeks ago, a Kel-Tec P11 9mm. I've been looking around town for a box or two of ammo for almost two weeks now. Every single store in a 100 mile radius is completely out of 9mm, with no telling when it will be back in stock. I eventually bought 100 rounds online, but even there, I see notices on online ammo stores saying they currently have up to a several month backlog (!!!!) due to the high demand. Has anyone else had this sort of trouble lately? Everyone tells me it's related to the Sandy Hook Connecticut shootings and other recent events. I don't know who to be madder at: the bleeding liberal assholes trying to wipe away our second amendment rights, or the ultra-conservative gun nuts that are hoarding ammo by the thousands of rounds, which keeps the little guys like me from even get a single round for home defense. Even the .22LR bullets are getting hard to find. This is absolutely crazy. They do have a lot of other misc. stuff still in stock, it seems to be revolver stuff and shotgun shells. Seems I made the fatal mistake of buying a popular caliber at a bad time. I just can't wait for Biden and his goons to completely strip us of our constitutional rights to defend ourselves. What a fun time that will be. I think this is my second time going off-topic at Diyma in my 750 or so posts. I'm getting back to my CarPC build. Please carry on now |

Wait, you're scared by a ban on the weapons that were designed for war being in the hands of your all the crazy people in your neighborhood? I mean, we can't get Kinder Eggs in this country because they might be dangerous, but you can get a Bushmaster AR with no trouble as long as you haven't been caught for any crimes yet. |

Tyrannical government? Really, "they" aren't out to "get" you, because then they won't be able to get your tax money. Think about it. Semi-auto Bushmaster rifles are made to look just like the M16. It was designed for war, originally. We have all types of consumer protections in this country to keep us safer (I know, debatable), but whenever we ask for something to be done about the easy access to killing tools, the answer is "No, that won't work." Liberal media example: NRA Head: Registry Of Gun Owners Would Be Very Dangerous : NPR. His resistance to any kind of change is comical in light of our collective irresponsibility to prevent tragedy. |

The ''designed for war'' aspect is simply not true. The AR-15 was styled after the M-16, but not designed. The design of the M-16 is to be a portable machine gun and the AR-15 is simply not that. Either way, this thread is way off track, let's respect the OP and keep on topic. |

I also watched the original Red Dawn after someone posted about it here. It was pure comedy gold. Edit: The Afghans are also better trained and battle hardened than most Americans. They can live without there Starbucks. |

People tend to give the government way more credit than it deserves. All those alphabet soup agencies you mentioned don't have the capabilities to keep track of the roughly 350,000,000 people in this country. All that shit you see in movies is exactly that...movies. Here's the thing....if (or when) a revolution comes to call, the reaction of the military will largely depend on the reason for the uprising. If people revolt because of their constitutional rights being revoked, military response will be minimal at best. The government will have to call in outside contractors....read; mercenaries....to quell such an uprising, and that WILL provoke the military into action to guard the nation and her people. "I, state your name, do solemnly swear (or affirm) to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic." Thus begins the oath every servicemember in this country swore when they enlisted. Me personally, I still follow that oath and stand ready to defend my country if the need arises. |
